Lugz Men's Convoy Lace-Up Work Boot Review
The Lugz Convoy work boots are a good cheaper alternative to timbs. Lugz does a good job at offering a very similar silhouette as the Classic 6-inch Timberlands. The upper is made of Thermabuck, which is a synthetic nubuck.
These Lugz boots are not waterproof like the popular classic Timberlands, but instead feature weather resistent uppers for light rain and wet conditions.
The outsole is made of lug rubber and are designed to handle slippery and wet conditions such as snow quite well. The insoles are cushioned for a comfortable fit.
These boots run a little narrow for some people but otherwise should run true to size.
The Lugz Convoy boots come in a few different colors including black, rust, and navy blue. So there are plenty of options for those who want to steer away from the classic golden wheat boot color. Below we visually compare the Lugz Convoy to the Timberland Mono-Grey boots.
Levi's Men's Harrison Engineer Boot Review
Levi’s has made a great alternative to the Timberland Classic Premium boot with their Harrison Engineer boot. These boots are great quality for the sub-$100 price tag. Just like Wheat Timberlands, these boots are six inches with padded leather collars.
Instead of the Timberland Nubuck, these Levi boots feature suede uppers. The outsole is made of lug rubber with amazing traction for use in winter weather. Inside the boot you can find a cushioned footbed for extra comfort. These Levi boots are not fully waterproof but instead are water resistant, meaning they can handle wet weather conditions fairly well but will not keep your feet dry in deep water submersion.
These boots run large so make sure to size down by a half or full size when purchasing.
The Levi’s Harrison Engineer boot comes in a variety of colors: Wheat, Black mono chrome, and Brown leather. Below we visually compare the Levi’s Harrison Engineer boot in black monochrome with the popular Timberland Black Nubuck boots.
Caterpillar Men's 2nd Shift Work Boot REVIEW
Caterpillar has released a well-crafted cheaper alternative to Timberland’s PRO series boots with their 6-inch Second Shift soft-toe work boots. These boots come in a variety of great colors such as Honey, Brown and Black. The brown and black versions are made with full grain leather uppers. The Honey color (pictured) is a familiar wheat suede.
These CAT boots feature a heavy duty outsole that is oil-resistant as well a Goodyear welt construction. For the price these are amazing features in a work boot as they will hold up very well with consistent use. The inside of the boots feature a nylon sockliner and padded cushion for ankle support.
Below is a visual comparison of the Cat 2nd Shift in full grain leather brown and the Timberland PRO Pitboss boots. You can usually snatch these Cat boots at almost half the price of the Timberland boots for an excellent value, so make sure to check the Amazon link for the latest pricing in your size.
Ever Boots Tank Men's Soft Work Boots Review
Ever Boots “Tank” work boots are the most affordable Timberland boot alternative we have found. You can snatch a pair up for only a fraction of the price of Timberlands on Amazon. These boots have a very similar silhouette as the classic Timberland boots and feature a very similar leather color as the popular Wheat Nubuck Timbs.
The materials used in these boots are full grain leather for the uppers and rubber for the outsoles. These boots are made with Goodyear welt construction for extra durability. The inside of the boots are lined with a mesh material for breathability and cushioning. The speed-lace hardware on top adds a nice touch.
We don’t recommend these Ever Boots to anyone who needs them for work or other heavy use. For about $20-30 more you can find better options such as the Caterpillar or Sketchers featured boots on this list. But for those of you who want a stylish casual boot with a similar signature Timberland style, then the Ever Boot Tank work boot is great option.
Below we visually compare the Ever Boot Tank in brown leather to the popular Timberland Classic Premium boots in Chocolate nubuck.
Skechers USA MEN'S Verdict Boot REVIEW
The Skechers Verdict boot is a great quality boot for the price as well as the only cheaper Timberland alternative to be completely waterproof. This boot is perfect for those of you who are looking for an ankle style boot instead of the traditional 6-inch work boot style.
The uppers are made of waterproof suede in their wheat, charcoal and dark brown versions or a waterproof smooth leather if you choose to go with the black color. The outsole is made of lugged rubber for great traction and the inside is fully lined with extra padding on the collar and a tongue shock. It is worth mentioning that the Verdict boot features a shock absorbing midsole, making this a great boot pickup for work.
We like this boot because of it’s quality for the price (about half the price of a pair of Timberlands) and it’s lower ankle design sets it apart from the other boots on the list. Below is a visual comparison of the other colors available for the Skechers Verdict boot.
boots like Timberlands but cheaper
We hope that you find your perfect Timberland boot alternative and that our list brought some clarity of what is available right now as viable cheaper alternatives. We believe that a high quality boot is always worth it's price tag but also understand that a $190 price may not be worth it if you are just trying out the style or aesthetic.
The men's boots we picked for this list have a similar Timberland style without the commitment of a $200 boot. When picking these boots we were very selective on price and how similar they were to the original Timberlands. Trust us, there are many other boot brands that offered similar "Classic Timbs" style boots but we found them to be either too cheaply made or just about the same price as a pair of authentic Timberlands.
